Account Clerk

The Nelsonville City Auditor is seeking a part-time Account Clerk to begin as soon as possible. The selected candidate will be professional, driven, experienced, and ready to take on the challenging environment facing local governments and municipal finance.

Job Duties:

  • Records organization
  • Utility billing assistance when time allowable
  • Taking payments of many types at a payment window
  • Safely depositing money into the bank
  • Strong customer service handling on the phone with residents
  • Rapid message delivery and handling sometimes difficult and complex complaints
  • Developing a strong relationship with residents and community
  • Ability to work on a range of activities and procedures in a municipal finance setting
  • Records searching and delivery in compliance with state audits
  • Job duties will expand and contract with daily workload at the office

Minimum Requirements:

  • Spotless record on ethics and trust
  • An absolutely flawless past in handling money
  • Preferred: Experience in local government finance
  • Preferred: Experience with billing and payments
  • Impeccable customer service skills and history
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Willingness to learn rapidly
  • Willingness to grow and take on dynamic problems

Expected Compensation:

  • $15 an hour at 20-32 hours per week depending on work load
  • Pension
  • Time off and paid holidays
