City of Nelsonville Water Waste Treatment Plant Operator

Duties

Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plant. Monitors pumping station and inspects facility on a scheduled basis to ensure proper operation of plant and equipment. Duties also include collection and analysis of samples, taking daily measurements for process control, maintenance of pumps and equipment, operation and maintenance of lift stations, regulates chemical feeds according to instructions, starts and stops pumps , motors and other equipment, replaces chlorine and de-chlorination chemicals and regulates flow of each, operates motorized equipment as necessary, cutting grass, snow removal, record keeping for process control measurements, chemical feeds and daily log, cleaning, inspection and maintenance of plant and other related duties as may apply.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license with ability to obtain class B CDL within 6 months. Ability to obtain a class I Wastewater Treatment license within 18 months of employment.

Ideal candidate would have the ability to obtain a class II wastewater treatment license within 3.5 years and a class III wastewater license after obtaining 5 years’ experience in order to be qualified to assume position of operator of record when current supervisor retires.

Shift

Operator will work 8 consecutives 10-hour workdays starting at 6am every Wednesday and ending at 4 pm the next Wednesday. Shift includes weekend work and public holidays. Work can also include call outs for emergency response or other plant related needs.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills

Ability to climb ladders, traverse several flights of stairs, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, remove and replace heavy equipment, work with hand and power tools.
